Emmitt Smith suffered a Grade II AC separation in his right shoulder during the 1994 game against the Giants. However, he still finished the game, but when he was on the flight back from Dallas, the running back went into a state of shock due to the extreme physical trauma.
As he passed out, the pilot and the cabin crew considered an emergency landing in Memphis to get him to a hospital. But Smith refused to make the emergency landing, with one simple statement: "If I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die in Dallas".
