Before becoming a Cowboys legend, Bob Hayes won the 1964 Olympic 100m gold in a borrowed shoe. His roommate, future boxing champ Joe Frazier, had accidentally kicked one of Bobâs spikes under a bed, forcing Hayes to borrow a spare from an 800m runner minutes before the final.
Despite the mismatched gear and a chewed-up Lane 1, he tied the world record at 10.0 seconds to take the win.
Hayes capped his Tokyo run with a 4x100m anchor leg, turning a fifth-place deficit into a world-record gold with a blistering 8.6-second split.
To this day, he remains the only athlete in history to win both an Olympic gold medal and an NFL ring (Super Bowl VI).
